Foodies have been clamoring about Guerneville’s latest addition, Seaside Metal Oyster Bar. Owned by the same people as Bar Crudo in S.F. Seaside Metal (or SM for short as the sign out front suggests) has a seasonally rotating menu consisting mainly of, seafood and shell fish in particular.
Oysters, clams, mussles, shrimp by the piece ($2-3) or in a sampler platter ($47-96). A variety of Crudos ($14) and salads/ cold plates ($12-21) as well as hot small plates and entrees ($8-27). A wine list full of local favorites, and an intriguing smoked fish plate along with the standard local cheese board is on the menu.
We loved the delicate, rich uni crudo. We tried a few hot items as well. Everything we tried was fresh and tasty but the star dish out of what we ordered was the lobster salad ($21) with grapes, burata, hazlenuts and miner’s lettuce.
The atmosphere is upbeat and casual. We plan to go back soon when we’re ready to dig into a whole crab or lobster. The bar/ counter seating also looks like the perfect spot for solo dining if you’re in the mood to chat with the chefs or other patrons.
